Are you wondering weather or not you should upgrade to the new Windows 7 operating system?

Do you have Windows Vista and are disappointed with the value you received?

Were you DISGUSTED when Vista came on every new computer out there whether anyone wanted it or not?

Were you or did you know one of the many who chose to PAY MORE for the option to downgrade to Windows XP because of its ease of use and reliability?

…Or are you one of the few who don’t mind waiting the extra time for your computer to start up?
…Do people only want Windows 7 because it is the next “must-have” system?

If you are weighing the decision to get this new operating system and you do not care about all the technical mumbo jumbo, then LOOK NO FURTHER.

I figure there are thousands of people out there like myself who are wondering how this may or may not affect them. I bought a new Sony Vaio laptop from Future Shop two months ago, so I was promised a free upgrade to Windows 7. What I wanted to know was,

“Will I be able to switch over to this new operating system easily? Do I get to keep all my files and everything else downloaded on my computer, or will everything be gone?”

I did some research and this is what I found…

From Wikipedia, I first investigated the new features. I sifted through the many pages just to find there are only a few I actually care about.

For starters, there will be improved boot performance—-THANK THE STARS!!! I don’t know about the rest of the people specifically using Vista, but I for one did not think it would take as long as it did to get working on something after my computer is turned on with a BRAND NEW COMPUTER!

I found on one site that the average start up time from post to first view of the desktop screen is 3 minutes, 15 seconds. WOW.
(For those of you who also don’t know what post means, it stands for Power On Self Test and it is a check to make sure your computer is ok to begin loading your operating system. It’s the part of the process that will let your computer finish starting up and if there is a problem with one or more components you will see that dreaded blue or black screen.)

There will now also be access from the start menu all of the items us “average folk” recognize as plug-in devices, as well as printers. This will take you to the options of these external devices faster and replaces the previous control panel function, titled “Printers”. You will now be able to control options regarding things like microphones, cameras and fax machines from this easier-to-find location.

There is also the ever-talked about feature of the touch screen, which sounds really good in theory but I’d advise getting a protection film specifically for your screen to increase the longevity of it. That is, IF your PC is touch-capable.

One of my favourite applications, Calculator, has gotten a facelift as well. They have added features called programmer and statistics mode, as well as unit conversion and date calculation. This is great, as I have more than once had to Google for conversions for my baking. I will waste time no more! It will now be similar to a good quality scientific calculator.

For unknown purposes then and now, internet spades, backgammon and checkers are now back on Windows 7 as they were removed from Vista. This was an amusing factoid to me, but I love the game of spades, so bring it on!

My conclusion is that if you are satisfied with Vista or XP (XP being my fav by FAR) and you don’t need to follow the rest of the sheep, simply don’t get Windows 7.

On the other hand, if you’re buying a new computer and it comes with it, fantastic!

I received my free copy and upgraded it myself in a few hours! No need to save anything on an external hard drive, and everything transferred seamlessly! The only program I had to uninstall was Itunes. I have found it is MUCH faster and easier to navigate than Vista. I was informed by a guy at Future Shop that he only had one problem with the transfer of information on an upgrade, and that was with an Acer computer.

Hope this helps you decide!

How can I make my computer faster? – You must think about this question a number of times. And I believe you have tired of searching for advisable answers that could make your computer faster. A slow computer would bring numerous troubles to your job and study. Fortunately there are some working tips available that may help you make the slow computer run faster again.

1. Run security scan to remove virus, spyware and trojan on your slow computer. Be sure your computer is free from virus. Update your anti-virus program regularly and allow it to protect your computer in real time.

2. Terminate unneeded programs on startup. If you always like to download and install applications, you must have lots of programs which will be launched automatically when you start your computer. These programs would take you a lot time to enter the system totally. To disable the startup programs, you can just click “Start”–Run–Type in msconfig–Under the “startup” tab, you can decide which programs are the unwanted when startup. After doing this your computer startup will run faster than earlier before.

3. Detect and fix Windows registry errors. This can be a quite very important and necessary way you need to get to make your computer run faster. A corrupted registry would bring numerous errors to your computer such as freeze, blue screen errors, crash etc. Thus, you need to clean up registry errors regularly to make your computer running fast. I recommend you run a registry scan every week to keep your system away from registry errors.

So What is the Ultimate Solution to end your thinking on how to make my computer faster

RegCure Registry Cleaner is a registry utility that can easily find the junk and eliminate it from your system. Why not Download Regcure and take the advantages of Free Scan to Fix your slow running computer?

Slow computers are not only annoying, but a big drain on your patience and energy. And the problem of a slow PC is one that is getting worse and worse by the year, with millions of people having to deal with the issue every day. Fortunately, there’s a way to stop this problem forever and you can use this trick to make your computer run like a rocket.

The reason why most computers run slowly is because they don’t have the capability to “heal” themselves. Windows PC’s have an Achilles heal which, if not given constant attention, can make your PC run as slow as a snail. This problem is the main reason why computers run slow, and it’s all to do with a part of Windows called the ‘registry’.

The registry is a database which stores “instructions” for your PC. It’s basically like a big library of important information that your computer needs to run on a day-to-day basis…. and the reason why it makes your system run slowly is because this library is prone to becoming damaged, mixed-up and corrupted. Imagine the registry as a telephone directory, but instead of the directory storing people’s addresses, it stores information about your PC, giving Windows a reference to do what you want.

Whenever you do anything on your PC, it’s forever trying to open up the registry and read any instructions that are inside it. Think of Windows as a glorified “switch board” which links your commands with the instructions inside the registry. This means that whenever you use your computer, these registry files are constantly being used every day… and because so many are needed to help your PC, Windows ends up getting confused most of the time and saving many of these files in the wrong way, causing them to become corrupt and mixed-up.

When your computer saves its registry files in the wrong way, your system starts to slow down because it cannot find the instruction files it needs, leading it to run slower and with a lot more errors. This is the main cause of a slow PC, and with every day that passes, more and more registry files are becoming damaged & corrupted, making your system run slower and slower. Fortunately, there’s a trick to fix this issue which involves the use of a software tool called a “registry cleaner”.

Registry cleaners are automated cleaning tools that scan through the registry database and fix all the problems that are inside there. This means that you just need to download one of these cleaners, install it and then let it find any problems that are on your PC. The tool will then clean all these problems and get the registry working just like it did when it was new (and fast).

Microsoft has been extremely influential in the growth and use of computers and Internet service. Since the very early stages of computer development, Microsoft has been creating products that were adopted by software and computer designers, which promoted the growth of acceptance as a standard for operating systems (OS’s) among computer users. Microsoft holds nearly 90 percent of the market share for operating systems used today! The majority of computers sold today have a Microsoft’s operating system, Windows, installed on their computer.

Before Windows operating systems were developed, computer ran with DOS, or, disk operating system. Basically it was just a black screen with white characters and a cursor. Users would type commands or use keyboard shortcuts and prompts (like Ctrl+Alt+Delete) to perform all computer tasks.

For example, to open a program or perform a task, you would type a combination of letters on your keyboard and press “Return” or “Enter”. The program or task would open a similar page with more white characters on a black screen. You could navigate through the options with arrow keys, or type another command to exit or open another command. A cursor would indicate where you can type more commands. The display upon turning on the computer was in a linear format, so you could only perform one task at a time. Previous commands would be higher on the page, disappearing off the top of the page and new commands displayed underneath.

You can still see and use the original DOS display format and perform tasks that can now be done with mouse clicks. To open the DOS command window, click Start>All Programs>Accessories>Command Prompt. Type “control” and push enter. This will open your Control Panel window. Close the Window

Microsoft bought MS-DOS (Microsoft-Disk Operating System) in the early 80’s, and this was the beginning of the operating systems the majority of computers use today.

GUI, or graphical user interface was a significant development that changed the way we compute. Graphics, like colors, desktop display, icons, and buttons would replace DOS text commands. Instead of typing a combination of letters and hitting “Enter”, you now just double click an icon with a mouse.

Although the first GUI display on mid-80’s computer fade in comparison to today’s high resolution, colors, and animation, it was a big improvement from the black screen with white letters! This is where the Windows operating systems we know today began.

The name “Windows” represents the transition from DOS format to GUI format. Programs and settings now open in its own frame, or window, which means that you can switch back and forth from one programs to another, and as technology improved, have multiple windows open and running at the same time.

The latest Windows operating systems are astounding and complex in comparison to their late 80’s, early 90’s predecessors. As each new system was released, computers were faster, more colorful and aesthetically-appealing, safer, and easier to use (that is, except for the time it takes to learn new methods and layouts!).

In October of 2009, Microsoft released Windows 7, a crisp, fast, safe, and elegant OS that is hardly recognizable in comparison to the first GUI operating system from 20 years ago, Windows 3.0. For more information about the versions and features of Windows operating systems, go to microsoft.com.

Download and installable types of software can be done in many different ways; however they may possibly damage your computer or make your computer slow down. The registry of the PC can be the main reason for the slow down computer and can crash your window software. Some software is not compatible with your operating system and some registry entries created by software, hardware or software problems that cause problems with your operating system can also cause a slowdown of your PC or even worse, the constant shock applications. One of the best ways to tackle this problem is to use a registry cleaner.

There are various kinds of cleaning products that can be found and they all work the same. Once installed on your PC to detect and correct cleaner software files and programs, any problems with your log entries can be solved. If the filter cannot repair the file, it is recommended to delete and remove the software. The software will be running again. The registry cleaners will also find hidden files in the software which you have installed. This is malware or a Trojan. Once found, the registry cleaner will delete the registry entries automatically without damaging the software.

What will the performance of Windows be optimized? Each time you scan with a registry cleaner (either automatic or manual), you will notice that all applications will run faster and the processing of your processor is also faster. The main result of this optimization is that the registry entries for its programs have been repaired or removed, the acceleration of its operating system and any harmful or malicious entries are also deleted. After optimization of the applications, you will also realize that you have no warnings or errors, and not bump the applications.

There are also times when you see some pop-ups telling you that if a registry cleaner is errors, they generally come from visiting malicious sites that generate these errors. If you have a good cleaning, these errors can be ignored. Registry cleaners are considered as a complete solution for maintaining your PC. You can use the registry entries, correct or delete related files, delete files and even hide harmful scanning malicious entries in the registry. Choosing a scanner or a registry cleaner is the difference between the slow performance of Windows and a PC full of errors or a fast Windows computer without any errors.

The purpose of HomeDistro is to put more focus using Linux on home computers. The home PC makes up over 70% of the desktop market and should not be ignored by developers and remaster geeks. The HomeDistro site reviews Linux distributions and ranks them for home PC use. This would include Notebook computers too.

There are some surprises on this years top 10 linux list. The top Linux distributions are ranked by the best combinations of reliability, simplicity, features, and speed. This is the first year we have “speed” as a major factor in the rankings. There are still millions of computers still in use that were sold when the economy was booming. Many of the recent major Linux distros with the KDE and Gnome desktop environments are sluggish on Pentium III and Pentium IV Celeron class computers from years ago.

The real surprise on this years list is ArchISO. Arch linux has always been a difficult distribution to install and configure. ArchISO makes Arch Linux a very user friendly distribution. The top distros on this years list are: Vector Standard, Linux Mint Xfce Community Edition, ArchISO Live CD, CrunchBang, DreamLinux, PCLinuxOS LXDE Edition, Zenwalk, PC/OS Linux, Salix OS (Bansai Linux), and SimplyMepis 8.0. You may have noticed that three of the distributions are based on Ubuntu, and three are based on Slackware Linux. Of course Ubuntu is based on Debian.

Very often in Windows XP, system registry errors can slow down your computer’s basic functioning. Registry errors accumulate over time as software is installed on your PC, and often can exist without you even being aware of them. Most of them are harmless, but on occasion, certain malware programs can be installed in your registry and cause severe system failure and even a full crash.

The best way to prevent registry problems is to get a good malware and virus protection program. However, if you find that you do have registry problems, there are a few ways to get started cleaning them.

The first step: Select Start from your taskbar. Then, click Run.

Second: Type in regedit in the Run box. Press enter.

This will bring up your system registry. Here you can edit it manually and see each individual entry. Pressing the small plus sign that looks like (+) beside each entry will pull up more options.

Pressing the delete key or right-clicking entries you know are no longer necessary will get rid of them. This should only be done if you know specifically which entries are causing your system to be hampered; tampering with the registry without knowing what you’re doing can also cause system failure and should only be done with caution.

The safest way to clean your system registry is to find a good program that will do the work for you and prevent further registry errors. Many of the current registry cleaning software programs out there actually take steps to back up and clean all registry errors from your computer, and sometimes even have virus protection or other preventative options.

Whatever you choose, before you clean your system registry, do make sure you make a backup of it. If for some reason you edit an entry incorrectly, you can at least resort to the backup to restore all your previous registry settings.

How many administrators does Windows Operating System allow?

Windows Operating System does not limit the number of administrator accounts, you can set as many as you can for your need.

It’s easy to set an administrator account: Start>Settings>Control Panel>User Accounts>Pick a Task>Create a new account, in the text box ‘Name the new account’, enter a user name and click ‘Next’, keep the checkbox ‘Computer administrator’, and click ‘Create Account’ to set a new Windows administrator account.

Go back to the User Accounts window, and click the user name you newly created, and go on to click ‘Create a password’, then set a password for your user name.

What privileges does Windows administrator have?

With a computer administrator account, you can:

a. Create, change, and delete accounts

a. Make system-wide changes

a. Install programs and access all files.

The Welcome screen shows the names of everyone with a user account for this computer. This screen appears when you start the computer or switch users. Windows administrator user names will appear on this window.

What about user accounts which are neither administrator account nor guest account?

With user accounts, you can:

a. Customize the way Windows and the desktop look for each user on your computer.

a. Have your own lists of Web Favorites and recently visited Web sites.

a. Help protect your important computer settings.

a. Log on faster, and quickly switch between users without closing your program.

What’s the difference between the administrator account and guest account?

Administrator account has an overall control of the whole system, with administrator account, you can see and use all users’ documents and folders, modify files, and install and remove programs. However, if with Guest account, you can only use the ready programs installed on the computer, unable to view and modify files and folders created by other users.

How comes I log onto Windows with the hidden administrator account?

When booting Windows, the Welcome Screen only lists the regular user names by default. The administrator’s account is hidden. Press key combination Ctrl+Alt+Delete (Delete two times) to display Login Dialog Window and you will see a user name box and a password box. Type ‘Administrator’ in the user name text box and enter the password in the Password text box. Then you log onto Windows with administrator account.

What if I forgot Windows password? What can I do if the administrator password is lost?

If you forget your password on a computer that is part of a workgroup or is a stand-alone computer, check your password hint. (Your password hint is located on the Welcome screen beside the password prompt.)

If you have a password reset disk, you can use it to create a new password for your account. Your personalized computer settings will be retained.

If your password hint does not help you remember your password and you did not create a password reset disk, you will need to have someone with a computer administrator account create a new password for you. For security reasons, a computer administrator cannot recover your password if you forget it; he or she can only create a new one for you.

If so unfortunately, you have your lost administrator password, The convenient and easy way is to get help from windows password recovery software, like Windows Password Reset 7.0, which is professional and easy to crack windows xp administrator password in one second.
