Why Do I Need a Registry Cleaner?

July 2nd, 2009 by Jacob Edwards | Filed in Best Registry Cleaner

There seems to be a great deal of misunderstanding among computer users about the need for computer maintenance. Of all the maintenance and optimization options that are available today, registry maintenance may be the most neglected.

When a person buys a home they realize that they will have to cut the grass, do the necessary home repairs, and maintain their property if they expect the home to last many years. It is exactly the same for owners of vehicle. It is a well known fact that the oil must be changed, tune-ups, tire rotations and such if they expect to drive their car for any length of time.

However, when it comes to computers — many people mistakenly assume that buying a computer is the beginning and the end of their investment in the machine, other than the occasional feature upgrade, one-off purchase, or accessory. This couldn’t be further from the truth.

One of the most important aspects of computer maintenance is registry cleaning. The registry can be thought of as the brains of the computer since its what controls nearly every aspect of the PCs functionality as well as any additional applications that are running.

After some consistent use and the addition and removal of different software programs, the registry can begin to fill up is useless and outdated information. It will begin to store worthless information which causes the registry to handle every request with difficulty.

When these things occur, you’ll start to notice that your PC slows down, certain applications may hang, freeze, or crash; you’ll see error messages popping up, or you’ll even experience intermittent rebooting of your PC — without your input.

While computer slowdowns can be attributed to a few different things — running out of disk space, inadequate memory, a heavily fragmented hard drive, or even a hard-drive failure waiting to happen — applications freezing, constant error messages, and no-input rebooting are indicative of an unhealthy registry.

The reason that you need a registry-cleaning program is because these problematic registry entries threaten the stability of your computer. While it’s relatively rare that a registry-related problem will require you to reinstall your Windows operating system, a poorly-performing registry can degrade your computer’s efficiency significantly, and it can cause problems with certain applications that you run.

Fortunately, registry cleaning and repair is relatively easy — most professional registry cleaning programs are very user friendly; no matter what your experience level, chances are that you can easily operate a registry cleaner. Cleaning your registry is a quick, and simple, way to help ensure the stability of your computer, and to protect your investment for years to come.
